Dental fillings are one of the most effective and affordable ways to repair teeth damaged by cavities caused by dental decay. At your regular dental checkups, Dr. Kalochie will evaluate your teeth to detect the presence of any cavities, and she will recommend the appropriate treatment plan to remove the decay and restore the health of your tooth.
Dr. Kalochie always uses the safest and highest quality materials for all dental fillings to ensure that your restoration is beautiful, functional, and long lasting.
Composite Fillings to Restore Cavities
Yardley dentist Dr. Jennifer Kalochie only restores cavities using tooth-colored composite resin that is highly durable and yields very natural looking results. No one will be able to tell you’ve had a cavity filled.
Our team does not offer metal amalgam fillings for functional and aesthetic reasons, as well as to avoid potential risks associated with mercury. If you currently have one or more metal fillings and would like them removed, we would be happy to replace them with tooth-colored fillings for a seamless smile.
Small areas of decay can often be repaired effectively with dental fillings. Treating dental decay in a timely manner is crucial. If you neglect to fill a small cavity and it is allowed to grow, more tooth structure could be damaged or the nerve of the tooth could become infected. Large areas of decay may need to be restored with a porcelain onlay/inlay or dental crown.
Your Filling Appointment
Small to medium-sized fillings on any tooth surface can be done in just one visit. First, Dr. Kalochie will gently remove the decayed portion of the tooth. The tooth surface is prepared with a conditioning solution, and a bonding substance is applied to the surface of the tooth.
Next, the composite material is applied to the tooth in layers and shaped to restore the original anatomy of your tooth. Finally, a safe LED light is used to harden the composite filling material. When the procedure is complete, Dr. Kalochie will check to make sure the height and shape are exact and your bite is comfortable. Your newly repaired tooth will be strong, functional, and ready for use right away.
